Interagency Working Group on Exchanges

June 4, 2011

James Pamment’s PhD The Limits of the New Public Diplomacy points me towards the work of the Interagency Working Group on  U.S. Government-Sponsored International Exchanges and Training

created in 1998 to make recommendations to the President for improving the coordination, efficiency, and effectiveness of United States Government-sponsored international exchanges and training.

The website has lots of material covering the work of all government departments.  Let’s just say that there are lots of these programmes (the annual reports are in the region of 400 pages) you can find details of numbers of inward and outward participants, budgets, descriptions of programmes, country case studies, evaluation etc.  Given that exchanges tend to be one aspect of PD that tend to be neglected by researchers this is a really valuable resource.
